Our lodges are at the forefront of this effort, fostering long-term relationships with local communities. Through employment, outreach, and development programs, we help locals understand the benefits of wildlife tourism and conservation, ensuring sustainable and positive engagement with nature.

Imvelo Safari Lodges:
Bomani Tented Lodge
In southeast Hwange National Park, teak woodlands open into the grasslands of the Ngamo Plains – frequented by herds of grazing herbivores and the predators which hunt them. Bomani Tented Lodge, on a private concession bordering the Park, was sited to maximize this iconic safari experience. Our Saddlebill tents on raised decks are combined with our Spurwing tents on ground level, complemented by the exclusive Sable Suite and the convenient Thatched Bungalow. The main lodge includes dining, lounge and bar areas with a pool deck overlooking the waterhole. Guests join their guide at the fireside at dawn for coffee before an early activity, and then again for drinks before dinner, where tales of Africa will hold them spellbound. Activities include game drives, night drives, walks, waterhole watches in our sunken hide, visiting the community for a glimpse of village life today, and of course, meeting the stars of our award-winning rhino sanctuary program.
Imvelo Safari Lodges:
Nehimba Lodge
Nehimba is located in a large private concession in the game-rich northern region of the Hwange National Park. The nine spacious cabins on raised teak decks are thatched for coolness in the hotter months. All rooms overlook the lodge waterhole which is used by wildlife throughout the day in the dry season. The camp is fully solar powered and all rooms have an en-suite bathroom with an outdoor shower option. The open-fronted main lodge overlooks the best pool in Hwange as the elephants that drink at it will demonstrate – dining with elephants is our signature Nehimba experience! Activities include game drives, full-day excursions, night drives, and walks to better experience the signs, sounds and scents of the wilderness with your experienced guide.
Imvelo Safari Lodges:
Camelthorn Lodge
Named for the ancient camelthorn tree it features, this lodge nestles in pristine woodland bordering Hwange National Park. Both Camelthorn Lodge and the new Imvelo Ngamo Rhino Sanctuary surrounding it occupy communal land and the local people are our partners in both developments. Eight secluded forest villas are well-appointed with sliding glass doors, fireplaces for the cooler winter months, and downstairs verandas. An upstairs balcony accessed by an outside spiral staircase can be used as a romantic sleep-out, and 4 of the rooms feature an upstairs splash pool annex. The main lodge has expansive dining, bar and lounge areas with al fresco dining options under the camelthorn tree. Activities include game drives and walks led by passionate and knowledgeable guides, watching wildlife from our sunken hide, meeting the people of Ngamo village, and tracking our first two reintroduced white rhinos, with the dedicated Cobras scouts who protect them.
Imvelo Safari Lodges:
Jozibanini Camp
Jozibanini Camp is situated in the remote southwest of Hwange National Park in a wilderness unused for nearly 20 years, where the San people once roamed. This is a small, truly exclusive camp in a truly wild place, a four-hour drive from the nearest camp, providing an untamed wilderness experience. Small and intimate, there are just 5 tents on raised decks with ensuite bathrooms with hand basins, bucket showers and flush toilets. The beds can be rolled out to the front deck for sleeping under the stars. In keeping with the rustic nature, all dining is al fresco around the campfire. The ecosystem here is semi-desert akin to the Kalahari in neighboring Botswana. Ancient windblown fossil dunes separated by shallow valleys where elephant paths have compacted the terrain, provide the opportunity for game viewing by mountain bike. Other activities include walks, picnic breakfasts in the bush, up-close game viewing from the Jozi “Look-up” hide, and visits to the St Josephs school and community outside the Park by prior arrangement (1.5hr drive).

This is a surreal place, gently set apart from the busy world. The island is fringed by a beautiful forest, while a soft sand path leads inward to a cluster of century old baobabs. This is our safari island Tsowa. A pioneer inspired camp placed on the river, steeped in luxury and considered space.
Wake to the calls of the resident Pel’s Fishing Owl and the soundtrack of the crickets. Fall asleep to the calls of hyena and lions. We placed the luxury tented camp on a site chosen for its magnificent forest canopy and enormous termite mound resting gently alongside the lounge. The golden green light pours through the trees and forest vines in the early morning and late afternoon. The fire pit deck is suspended over the Zambezi river and afternoons can be spent watching the reflection of the sunset over the Zambezi National Park as animals come down to drink.
